Steven Hertz is the host of the Video Game Music Show every Friday night from 6-8pm on KSPC 88.7FM. We were fortunate enough to interview Steven a while back in his Garcade(part garage/part bad ass arcade); chatting for hours about his hefty collection of cabinets, his love for laser disc games, and his legendary backyard arcade parties. Steven’s garage houses about 25 or so glorious cabinets, though we are yet to tour his infamous storage unit which is said to contain way more retro goodness. Look for Steven in the Gamer Age, as he scarfs down waffles and reminisces about the days of rocking out to the music of Sonic and Streets of Rage.

Beyond the Game_ the propaganda

An artist friend helped us throw together some image mashups intended to promote the first test screening of our documentary Beyond the Game; showing at Magfest as part of their Games on Film event.

The screening which takes place this Friday night at 5:30 pm, will be followed up by a q&a with the Ackbar crew + some of the many super stars featured in the film.

Miltos Manetas: Multimedia artist and Original Gangster

Some of you may not be familiar with the glorious artwork created by the one known as Miltos Manetas, but he is one of the early pioneers of this game art movement and his “Videos after Video Game (1996-2006)” series is considered to be one of the first examples of machinima. Miltos has exhibited in galleries across the globe; displaying large scale paintings of cables, computers and video game controllers.
